| Chairman's Message |

The Corporation has entered in 63rd years
of business since its inception in June 1948. The Corporation
has been persistently trying to expand its services in the villages
and develop passenger services / amenities at the remote interiors
of Maharashtra, keeping in mind the principle "where there
is road there is S.T." Initiating the passenger transport
business with 36 Bedford vehicles the Corporation has a fleet
of 17000+ buses, giving variety of passenger bus services. Moreover,
presently there are 247 depots, 32 divisional workshops and
3 central workshops meant for building of new buses and its
major repairs and maintenance. The Corporation has also provided
578 well equipped bus stations. More than 63 lakhs passengers
are availing our bus service daily.
I had taken over the charge of the Corporation as Chairman for second term in
Sept 2006, and taken a review of traffic operation & passenger amenities. A
special programme" Pick More Passenger for growth of S.T." covering different
passenger friendly schemes to attract the traveling public was launched which
was well accepted by the passengers. It gives me a great pleasure to inform you
that, the Corporation has been able to reduce its accumulated loss of Rs.1122.98
crores upto the year 2005-06, to Rs.386.11 crores till 2009-10. I hope this loss
could be cut down in coming 2-3 years.
The massive computerization programme is being implemented through out the State
by using Electronic Ticket Issuing Machine and Online Reservation System for
ticketing purpose. The Corporation would be able to plan its bus schedules more
efficiently by implementing this programme, in addition to become more passenger
friendly. The Corporation is trying hard to ensure financial stability and
development of passenger services to the satisfaction of the passengers.
I hope, the Corporation will receive all sort of co-operation from passengers
for rendering courteous and satisfactory passenger services in future.
Thank you.
